A new exhibition at Ullens Center in 798 district in Beijing by Ji Dachun displays more than 40 works from the past decade, illustrating many important moments of his career.

Best known for his realistic and surrealistic critiques of contemporary Chinese society, one could easily be confused with some humorous images mixed with black-and-white abstract paintings. ” I am still moving on and evolving and exploring the darkness”. When I met him in Shanghai in 2002 his work was around historical figures or heroes from different places. in 2013 he had a solo exhibition at Rome’s Museum of Contemporary Art. He feels happy when his painting is painful and unreal, such above long horse.
