New National Art Museum in Beijing
Some well-sourced report tells that Jean Nouvel has beaten out other high profile architect’s Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry for the new headquarters for the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC).
The new massive building will be situated next to the Olympic “Bird Nest ” stadium and even if the official announcement is not expected until after the Chinese Government Congress in October, the winner has been confirmed anonymously by sources within NAMOC.
Nouvel’s design reportedly incorporates a number of “Chinese” references, including stencilled glass evoking traditional brushstrokes. Completion is scheduled for 2015.
