Compelling Art Arrives to Shanghai

September has always been the art season for Shanghai and this year’s Shanghai contemporary Art Fair has already drawn quite a bit of attention from the international art community. Directed by Massimo Torrigiani and according to him the fair will disclose the world’s most compelling choice of Chinese and Asian contemporary art, alongside a selection of Western artists and galleries. 90 galleries will participate, whereof two-thirds will be by Chinese based galleries, including James Cohan and Pace.

Art is now the new favorite of wealthy Chinese after the authorities imposed a series of regulations to cool down the real estate market in the past year.
Spring 2011, the total turnover of China’s art auction has passed Rmb 12 billion, lead by Poly International and Guardian Auction.

September 7 to 10 are the dates to visit Shanghai.
